Outofshards's Recruitment Application - Warlock 0/13/58
Outofshards's Application
Character Information Character Name: Outofshards Character Class: Warlock Character Race: Orc Talent Spec: 0/13/58 How many pieces of 226/232+ level items do you have?: Three 226. Soon to be five piece 226. Most of my gear is 219. Profession 1: Enchanting Profession 2: Inscription Armory Link: <Arthas: outofshards> Interface: http://images.wowstead.com/27730/82.jpg Person Information Gender: Male Age: 25 Timezone: EST TG raids 5 days a week when the content demands it, 6:30-11:30 EST Sunday to Thursday. Would you be able to maintain an 80% attendance rate?: That raid time is perfect. I can make any raid where you need me. Do you know anyone in TG who would vouch for your skill as a player? If so, who?: Being gone from the server for nine months, I do not. What is you previous guild history and explain any reasons why you left them. (long answer): To sum it up, I started playing on Arthas in late 2006 and transferred to Dentarg in November 2008. I recently transferred back, because Arthas is home. It feels like home and it will always be home. On Dentarg, I joined the now defunct <DeathWish> right after hitting 80 in early December 2008. I stayed there until <DeathWish> started to slowly die and that's when I joined <Constant Karma>. CK had some stability issues after a while (before 3.1) and eventually reformed under the name <Rebirth>. <Rebirth> was founded by one of the officers in CK and eventually I was given the reigns as Guild Master. With the help of my estranged wife, We progressed through 10man Ulduar content at a steady pace. Dentarg's a low population server and it's rather difficult to pick up a consistent 25man raid group week after week, so we primarily focused on 10man Ulduar and we hosted numerous 25man Ulduar pugs with 10-15 of our best players and 10-15 puggers.Have you ever been a raid leader, class leader, officer, or website administrator with another guild? (long answer): I have help rankings from Guild Master all the way to Core-Raider. I have plenty of experience being a web site administrator for the guilds that I was a part of and I've eventually made it up the rankings to Officer or Co-GM in practically every guild that I've been a part of.Why do you want to join TG over another guild on this server? (long answer): I remember TG from back when I was on Arthas during The Burning Crusade. TG was a reputable guild in TBC and I have no doubts of the same reputation in Wotlk. Please describe in detail your previous raid experience, pre-BC, BC, and current content. Include information if you participated in pre-nerf kills, legitimate attunements (such as Hand of A’dal), etc. (long answer): I spent a good portion of my time in BC doing PVP. By the time I started raiding, Sunwell was out and I only had the opportunity to get through Kara and Gruuls before the launch of WOTLK. WOTLK is a different story, though. Like most people, I've raped Naxx in 10 and 25 man modes, OS/VoA, Ulduar, etc. My last guild on Dentarg was a small 10man raid guild and before it fell apart due to some people quitting and some people losing interest in PVE, we had downed everything up to Yogg with ease.Explain in detail the way you DPS/Heal/Tank, rotations, gear selection, gemming, etc. Convince us that you have thorough and extensive knowledge of your class. Links to WWS or similar performance recording tools are helpful. (long answer): Well why don't I start with my rotation?Describe your gaming system. Your computer needs to be good enough to not cause problems raiding. Frame lag, ping, connection problems, not using a microphone + Ventrilo or crashing is not acceptable. (long answer): I run WoW on a PC I built... Intel Core2Extreme quadcore 2.66ghz CPU overclocked to 2.93ghz, 4gb of RAM, 1TB HDD, nvidia 640mb 8800gts graphics card, microphone & vent (a necessity for any raider) and I typically maintain a solid 50-60dps depending on the raid size and depending on what exactly I'm doing. I never have had any FPS issues. My ISP is an 8mbit cable connection that rarely, if ever, has any issues. It's as reliable as it gets for home broadband. Why are you worth being one of the 25 people in a raid? Please list anything else you'd like to mention about yourself that we might have missed. (long answer): 1) I'm reliable. If i sign up for a raid, the only way I'm going to not show up is if I'm in the hospital dying or something ridiculous like that. Can you handle criticism?: To be honest, if one can't take criticism well, then how can they truely learn from their mistakes? I've got thick skin and if you tell me that I need to fix something regarding my gear/gems/anything.... all you have to do is say the word and it's done. How can we contact you?: in-game (Outofshards is my Warlock and Islayallies is my Paladin), via e-mail at chrisoverton@gmail.com or via via AIM at chris0vert0n. I'm very easy to get in touch with and if you'd like to talk on vent, I'd be more than happy to speak with you guys. |

Couple questions about your rotation. Do you always use corruption under your normal rotation? I've been under the impression that warlocks do not use corruption in their regular rotation, only when they're moving since a global used on a corruption represents a net dps loss to a stationary destrp warlock. Second question is, do you always use conflagrate immediately after immolate? Unless there's another warlock in the raid who manages to apply immolate before you, you'll have to wait a fraction of a second before conflgrate lights up and you're able to use it, lowering your dps.

Regarding Corruption, that really depends on the fight. If it's a fight that requires more movement, I tend to use more instant cast spells to try to keep up the dps while having to move.
Regarding Conflagrate, I agree with you on having other Warlocks in the raid. I was just naming off the typical rotation that I would use assuming that I have the opportunity to use all my spells without another Warlock in the picture. If there's a situation like the one you described, I'd go ahead and cast an Incinerate, then cast Conflagrate and Chaos Bolt. Waiting for cooldowns, whether via another Warlock's Immolate or not, is definitely not a good way to maximize DPS and I absolutely agree with you on your Immolate statement. Feel free to ask more questions if needed. I'll be glad to answer any questions. Quote:

How comfortable are you at playing Affliction?
This is largely important due to affliction dps on our current main raid encounter we're working on. 0 Yogg. |

I haven't played affliction in some time, but if you need me to swap specs and go affliction for any fights, I'll be glad to do some research on Elitistjerks/Warlocks Den/etc and make things work. I'm comfortable playing as affliction... I'd just need to spend a few minutes on a training dummy to get rid of some of the rust :)

Just looked at your achievements, you focused on 10 man content but you were never able to complete any hardmodes or even kill yogg?

With the guilds that I was a part of on Dentarg, we mainly focused on downing 10man content without hard modes to gear up guild members and being in a smaller guild on a low population server made it more difficult for myself and other guild members to get in on non-fail 25man raids. We had planned on working on hard modes once downing Yogg and that obviously never happened, lol. Most of the Dentarg 25man Ulduar raids that were going on were full guild runs. As as guild, we had issues getting Yogg down due to consistently losing people for reasons such as people quitting wow, stopping raiding to pvp, etc. All I do while on WoW is raid, prepare for raids and obviously chat with friends... PVE is where my heart is and I always love a challenge.

Do you have any WWS or worldoflogs parses of boss fights you could post? Not even completing 10 man ulduar gives me serious doubts about whether or not you'd make a good fit here and some parses of you doing competetive damage on some fights would go a long way to alleviating that concern. Maybe even a screenshot of some damage meters.

I do not have any WWS parses and I haven't taken any screen shots of Recount. The best thing that I can do without seeing me in a raid is to go to a training dummy and either take a screen shot of my recount stats or I can link them to you in-game in a whisper. I'm online at the moment... feel free to send me an in-game tell if you'd like. Just let me know and I'll be glad to provide any information that I can.
