We finally did it. At last the first Tier of MoP is complete! Heroic Sha of Fear has perished. TG got a US 3rd, World 28th 10 man kill on Sha. To say that this Tier was special for TG and that we are extremely pleased with our end result is an understatement. Let me go into some backstory that led up to our kill. Warning: wall of text!
TG stopped raiding during Dragon Soul due to excessive burn out. A group of us that used to raid in TG were still good friends and continued hanging out on skype and played other games such as League of Legends together. A few people suffered from nostalgia...the good ol' days of TG; the laughs, the fun times, and the successes we had back then. This led to the inevitable desire to try getting the band back together again for MoP. Some of us had no intent on returning to the terrible state the game was in back during Dragon Soul and resisted the temptation for as long as we could. Eventually though, we all crumbled and agreed to try our luck with a 10 man in the new expansion.
By the time this all went down, the expansion was already over a month old. We all quickly leveled up our characters and agreed to try to complete normal MSV on a Sunday so that we could get straight into heroics the next raid reset. Our first raid night, when we zoned in with 450 ilvl to normal MSV, most of the top 10 man US/World guilds had already killed Heroic Will of the Emperor. To say that we were really far behind progression wise and in regards to gear was no exaggeration. Being realistic, we didn't have high hopes of getting top US/World ranks this tier. So naturally we decided on the next best thing, focus on trying to get server first and next tier we will worry about top ranking kills once again. Our competition was Nananana Batman. Yep.
Right around this time we were having issues with our 10th member. We went through about 4 people before we finally found a reliable 10th member for our 10 man. One person had unstable internet connection; another forgot that raiding wasn't all laughs and it required some effort if you wanted to do well; another realized he could not juggle school and raiding and I forget what else. To be completely honest, I think we were lucky to even raid 2 hours a night and we had to call a few raids due to lack of bodies. Right around here we found Wally monk and we took a big risk recruiting him. We didn't have much to judge his skill, but we gave him a shot. Surprisingly he turned out better than what we had anticipated and he is still with us today!
Things started to become better at this point for us. We could actually raid our set schedule! Interestingly enough, there seems to be a correlation with being
We stepped foot into Terrace and decided to put our try hard pants on. We cleared the first 3 bosses fairly quickly and efficiently. None of them proved to be too challenging, but they were still pretty good fights overall.
Now we are on the homestretch of this Tier. Only Sha is left! Progression on it has been going well so far. Could we maybe sneak a Top US kill out of nowhere?!
First of all, Having to 4 heal a 10 man is aids. So what does it take for TG to down a new boss? Have the worst pull EVER. We were consistently getting close to a kill on Heroic Empress but something always happened right before the beginning of Phase 3 that would wipe. Usually it was Jayeckz finding a way to die multiple times during one pull.
Anyway, on our actual kill our DPS was worse than every other pull; our phase 2s were the worst phase 2s that we ever had because windblades didn't die, the trap didn't spawn early for some reason and healers got absolutely no time to regen mana; then our push into phase 3 was complete shit and we ended up having dissonance fields in the final phase; finally like 3 people were trying to die at the beginning of phase 3 because they assumed it was a wipe. End result? Kill. Ask me how we managed and I can't even begin to tell you how it happened.
Unfortunately this kill wasn't the Realm First Empress kill, but it did happen only a few hours apart from Clarity's kill. Seeing how close it actually was means we could have definitely snatched it from them assuming we wouldn't have had as many issues as we did these last 2 weeks. Particularly missing out on over 5 hours of raid time on Tuesday/Wednesday because of people being late and someone leaving the raid to go to sleep/mad. Honestly, it might sound like I am making excuses, but I am alright with us not getting because we should have just played better. Congrats to Clarity for getting the Realm First and for playing really well. Empress is no pushover. The race for Sha of Fear is on!
I forgot to take screenshots of our other boss kills so Wind Lord will have to suffice!
This post should have happened awhile back, but to get to point, TG has decided to try their luck at WoW raiding once again! Even though we went the 10 man route, we are still trying our best to kill raid bosses as quickly as possible, but not at the same level of "hardcoreness" that we used to have back in the day.
We started this expansion a few weeks late due to indecisiveness of whether or not we were getting the crew back together. After finally deciding that we actually were in fact going to raid we faced quite a few problems involving our roster. We had an abundance of internet/DC issues; we had people who realized they didn't have the time to raid again while maintaining their social/school life; and finally our favorite tank quitting this tier due to "personal" reasons.
As for our progression we are 6/6 Heroic in MSV and 4/6 Heroic in HoF thus far. Amber Shaper should fall soon!
