Keep in mind matchmaking for criminals is better, since they can vs each other, might be more flavour, + stealing cars/items is pretty neat reputation.

APBs are also the escape or VIP, which are darn fun in a group.

Why would they use 3 rogues to stun first? Seems really iffy. Don't they need to build combo points to do so?

At the moment we changed to having 2 of our tanks stun and the last one is a ret paladin. The tanks never get picked up so we don't need back up stuns for 2 valkyr targets. We only have back up stuns for the ret target and it can be a rogue/holy pal.

After that we have 2 AoE stuns, Holy Wrath + Holy wrath.

How does premonition divide the dps on the valks?

Do they assign people to specific raid icons Circle(1), Diamond(2), Triangle(3)?

Tanks can get picked up apparently, just super rare. When Valkyr spawn, they're just slowed initially then stunned by the rogues after a short while followed up by secondary stun, don't use a 3rd. People always stacks on LK for Valks, defile person runs out and raid flips to other side of LK/Valks.

Single target classes are assigned a mark (like above), ones with superior AoE aren't.

Yeah APB is a lot of fun, I preordered this weekend while sitting around doing nothing in Irrigon, OR this weekend. Enforcers huh? I'd go with either honestly but FYI Nid you can do car return missions as Enforcers too it's just that you return cars that Criminals have stolen.

This game has by far the best customization system in any game i have played before. It's endless what you can do with your characters and not just appearance. The in game music DJ shit is awesome as well.

Enforcer get LTL weapons, better ram/heavy dur vehicle, worse speedster (jerhico handles really bad apparently) and micro car. Crim is easy money/rep, and bounty as a crim is ridiculously good.

Both are fine, I'm thinking more individual players would go enforcer (since random APB as solo sucks), Criminal would be the underpopulated side perhaps.

Notoriety 5 gives you ~3x more money and 2.5x the standings, which criminals get way way more often than Enforcers (I'd GUESSTIMATE around 3 times more often since Enforcers hitting signs/pedestrians/etc makes gettin to 5 slow or tedious).

I've had an EVE Online account active for ~4 years, but only because I don't pay to play it. Game is 98% boring, 2% ridiculous adrenaline pumping action.

I'll probably try out Cataclysm, Premonition has ~15-16 people in the Alpha playing though and it's more WotLK as opposed to BC. Nothing new to do outside of raids, arena/bgs still are boring.

So do you level like City of Heroes? Is it mostly PvP? I'm thinking about playing it but I'm not seeing any reviews that explain how it progresses.

It's all pvp. I've played like 20 hours now and I still don't understand it very well. You get upgrade slots weapon upgrade slots for getting more experience. So, you can fight and kill guys that are much much higher than you but they have an advantage by having more upgrades. I can't explain it very well, but it's a lot of fun.

blade, here's a rough overview.

You choose criminal or enforcer. All the action goes down in one of two districts, Financial or Waterfront. These districts are instanced and capped at 80 players.

You progress by pledging to contacts and leveling up with them by doing missions, etc. When you get to level 3 with contacts they unlock new contacts. There are contacts from two different factions within your faction(crim/enf). Example - for criminals it's G-Kings and Blood Roses. You can also just advance level with the faction itself. The factions currently cap at level 40.

So, if you pledge to a contact you'll get standing for both that contacts faction, and the contact himself. Contacts cap at level 6.

If you pledge to a contact you're already max level with, all your standing/rep goes straight into faction rep (makes it a lot faster to just level up the factions).

The characters themselves do not advance or level, everything is done via upgrades. For instance, when you start you have one available character upgrade slot. When you hit 20 with one faction, you gain another. 20 with the other faction gain another. You can put minor upgrades in these slots like 5% or 8% or 10% bullet damage reduction.

Same goes with weapons. When you start out you'll have shitty weapons with no upgrade slots. But as you gain faction rep/standing you unlock better weapons with more upgrade slots. You can put stuff in them like 5% or 8%, 10% increased damage. Decreased reload time, etc.


TLDR - you just do missions for your factions and their contacts to 'level up', so you can access better versions of weapons and character upgrades, etc.



Then concerning PvP and balance and stuff it basically works like this:

When you accept a mission, a call will be placed out to the opposing faction offering them a mission to stop you. An example would be as a criminal we're in a group of four, we get a mission to go arm some bombs somewhere to blow shit up, and a call goes out to a group of four enforcers playing on the same server to come stop us. Then there's this thing called a 'threat level'. Caps at 15. Raises and falls directly dependent on your W/L ratio. Right now they use the threat level as a match-making system. So if you have 1-2 people playing with threat 14-15 they might send out calls to like a group of 4 lower threat players. It's kind of fucked up, definitely needs some tweaking, but they're working on it.

There are no NPCs. If players of the opposing faction don't accept the calls they get to take the mission you're on, you just complete the mission objectives unopposed.

Groups cap at 4, but you can call for backup based on threat levels and whether you're outnumbered or not, and groups can go above four with backup.

Thanks, that clears up most of what I was wondering about. My only concerns are the supposedly small amount of content (2 zones) and that every review mentioned it's hard to get into the game without a group to play with.

god damnit i just had this long ass reply typed out and i lost it somehow.

basic gist of it is yea there's only two districts but they're fucking huge and they're awesome, I've got 150 hours logged (lots of customization time but still) and I still dont know their grid. I know some locations but I still see new shit every day, and every building has multiple entrances, exits, cover, alleyways, rooftops, etc...


And the new player shit and the bad reviews is just a bunch of bullshit from baddies.

Yes sometimes you'll have to fight people with better upgrades than you, but we're talkin 10% modifiers here. They aren't game changers, if you're skilled at third person shooters you can still EASILY kill people with better upgrades than you.

The matchmaking system is a little fucked but they're working on it. Also know that you don't ever HAVE to accept any mission, and you always get to see how many opposition there are, and their threat level. And generally when you're outnumbered you can call for backup (though not all the time, depends on your threat levels vs theirs).


Example - we all just made enforcer alts to fuck around with on so we could use stun guns and shit, and as a squad we absolutely destroyed people, threat 15, groups of four really really high level players. But even solo on my own on my enforcer i was still fucking up people 200 ranks higher than me.

Also have to admit my bias though, I fucking love this game and I'm always down to fluff it up.

Most fun I've had in a really, really long time.


And the more the merrier, the 4 man group limit is kind of wack, as we will frequently have 5-6, maybe even 7 guys around that want to play.

Always a good thing to have more people!

I play almost entirely solo because their group is always full, and I still have fun. You can definitely own baddies that are high lvl, though there are times you get matched somehow against someone w/ maxed weapons and upgrades and you just get destroyed.

I learned a lot of new stuff I didn't know from Forc's post, and even knowing next to nothing about the game...it's fucking Grand Theft Auto with PvP. How can that be bad? Between missions you steal cars and run over people. Beats waiting for an instance to pop.

the only problem is I haven't unlocked a bat, bag, earphone and forward cap. I didn't realize that you only get a small amount of base clothing when you start.

Sledly... There are two 'world' servers, called Zombie and La Rocha.

We play on Zombie.

You choose a world server then you choose a faction. Our mains are criminals but we all have enforcers on zombie as well. You can talk across faction and mail across faction and shit as well so it makes it really easy to play both sides.


Then the world servers are instanced and capped at 80 players. So there will be like 20 active financial districts, 20 active waterfront districts, and a bunch of social districts. You can switch between servers at any time.



and Blade, couple things bout the clothing stuffs. If you leave your character AFK at a designer station for clothing for like ~10 hours you will advance your role level in Fashionista, which will unlock some of the stuff.

Other unlocks come from leveling contacts.

You can also use body paint / tatto in the character editor to make stuff.

My enforcer is Lilu from the 5th element and I made her entire costume out of body paint.

doooo eiiiiiiit. It's pretty crazy, the level of creativity in this game never ceases to amaze me.

The thing is, when you're designing symbols, or tattoos or logos or whatever, there IS NO PAINT BRUSH. You can't actually draw, you have to use preset symbols and stuff and then edit them. I'm pretty bad to be honest and haven't spent a whole lot of time with the symbol editor. Lilus costume was simple, it was made entirely from body paint and squares that I stretched out into the straps/lines.

Some people get SO Crazy with it though.

You get the highest scores from completing objectives - i think. I was in a group where they did all the killing and I captured all the spray points. Their score was less than half of what I got.

Here's an image of the earliest prototype. Unfortunately Optimus won't be able to fit into the symbol in his entirety, as it is too many layers.

The finished product will be one detailed Optimus arm slam dunking the Earth through a black hole, in space. This I am told, can be done. I will update the artists' progress here.

Same group or 4-6 of us still play pretty regularly.

As far as updates are concerned they just released a big bug fix patch.

a weapon balance and vehicle handling/physics among other things patch is incoming in a week or two.


They'll be adding some new ruleset districts (pure skill - no upgrades) and chaos (40v40 open ffa) soon as well.

There's some other stuff in development as well, the devs post pretty regularly what they're working on and what's on the horizon on the apb forums.

Actually we probably pay our enforcer 'alts' (my alt is higher rank than my main now) more than we play our criminals.

We had a 50+ mission win streak going with our criminals and we were trying to compete for monthly league rewards last month (which we tied with 7 other clans for 1st for, and ended up getting nothing as a result)

So now all our criminals have these crazy win streaks and they're all threat level 15 so we usually don't play them unless we have a solid group of four.


Although honestly at this point most of us have multiple alts on both factions so it's really whatever people feel like.
