ühz's Application

Character Information
Character Name: ühz
Character Class: Rogue
Character Race: Undead
Talent Spec: 15/51/5
How many pieces of 226/232+ level items do you have?: 7
Profession 1: Engineering
Profession 2: Mining
Armory Link: %C3%9Chz
Interface: I use DBM, Roguebars, Omen, and Xperl raid frames

Person Information
Gender: M
Age: 22
Timezone: Eastern Time
TG raids 5 days a week when the content demands it, 6:30-11:30 EST Sunday to Thursday. Would you be able to maintain an 80% attendance rate?: I would be able to maintain 100% raid attendance
Do you know anyone in TG who would vouch for your skill as a player? If so, who?: No

What is you previous guild history and explain any reasons why you left them. (long answer):
I am looking to leave my current guild because of my dissatisfaction with progression as well as guild continuity. There have been many occasions where scheduled “guild raids” have been forced to recruit puggers due to the lack of members showing up to attend raids. As a result of this in particular, progression has been slow and loot has been distributed “out of guild”, which I personally feel is unfair to the few, dedicated members of any guild.

Have you ever been a raid leader, class leader, officer, or website administrator with another guild? (long answer):
I have never assumed any of the aforementioned roles

Why do you want to join TG over another guild on this server? (long answer):
I just recently reactivated my account (about a week or so ago) and did not know much about TG to be completely honest. However, I did a heroic daily with a member of TG today (H-HoS) and I inquired about recruitment. He directed me to the forums, where I proceeded to Gimpedguild.org and read up on the accomplishments and progression of the guild. The site is organized and displays signs of professionalism, which in turn suggests that the guild is as well. I went on and browsed the website a bit, and read up on policies, etc. I feel that the guild is very tightly knit as a unit and I would like to contribute as best I could, in hopes of making TG just that much better on Arthas.

Please describe in detail your previous raid experience, pre-BC, BC, and current content. Include information if you participated in pre-nerf kills, legitimate attunements (such as Hand of A’dal), etc. (long answer):
I began playing the rogue class back when Naxx 40 was around and have been playing this class ever since. I have cleared MC and BWL, Kara, SSC, EoE, and Sunwell. My only legitimate attunement was Kara, but I don’t think that counts  I never did BT though. As far as current content goes, I have done VoA 10/25, OS 10/25, ToC 10, ToC 25 pug up to Anub, and Uld 10/25.

Explain in detail the way you DPS/Heal/Tank, rotations, gear selection, gemming, etc. Convince us that you have thorough and extensive knowledge of your class. Links to WWS or similar performance recording tools are helpful. (long answer):
I prefer the Combat tree to the mutilate tree because of the benefits of ArPen available to maces. I have looked over the spreadsheets available to rogues on EJ and ArPen scales tremendously and usually provides extra dps on non-murderable bosses, a talent available to mutilate specs. As far as gemming goes, I feel that the +20 agility gem is far superior to any available alternatives, even at the expense of socket bonuses. When starting a boss encounter, I usually use TotT on the tank to prevent accidental aggro from initial burst damage. I follow that up with a garrote and immediately use my trinket and AR, in hopes that their CD's will reset during the fight (if the encounter lasts that long). AR gives the luxury of spamming SS for a SnD and Rupture. I use KS after AR wears off (so that I dont waste the energy regen). According to spreadsheets on EJ, there seems to be a point where rogues can effectively eliminate rupture from their cycles completely, and just use SS and SnD. Howerver, I am not geared enough to do so atm (just thought i'd point that out). When the tank has maintained sufficient threat on the target, I use a macro for TotT and use it throughout the rest of the fight to increase a fellow raid member's DPS. I use vanish to reapply a garrote and to erase threat on the target (in case I become targeted by a boss/mob), CoS in the event of AoE spells, interrupts to disrupts casting (ToC), feint to avoid AoE damage. There have been numerous pug raids I have attended where there was no warrior applying sunder armor stacks. In such cases, I usually use expose armor. While this disrupts my rogue rotation and hinders my dps somewhat, the overall raid dps benefits from the 20% armor reduction granted by expose armor. I hope I did not leave anything out, but if I did, I would greatly appreciate any feedback/criticism, etc.

Describe your gaming system. Your computer needs to be good enough to not cause problems raiding. Frame lag, ping, connection problems, not using a microphone + Ventrilo or crashing is not acceptable. (long answer):
I use a Dell XPS m1710 Laptop. I run WoW on full graphic settings and have an average framerate of 41 and an average latency of 122. I have access to Ventrilo and a microphone as well. I have had the same gaming rig for 3 years now, and I have never had any problems with it when I game. I would personally rate my computer an 8/10.

Why are you worth being one of the 25 people in a raid? Please list anything else you'd like to mention about yourself that we might have missed. (long answer):
I feel that I am worth being a core member of a raid group because I know how to play rogues efficiently and effectively. I feel that I can dish out a substantial amount of DPS while maximizing survivability, which I feel is an overlooked asset to a raid. A dps class cannot do any dps if he/she is dead. Also, I would bring 110% effort, focus, and diligence to every raid. I feel that if I do not, then I am wasting $15/month on subscription fees. However, on a larger scale, I would be wasting $360 of the other 24 members of the raid.
I play goalie in an adult hockey league and I just took up surfing. I play tennis and lift on a regular basis and I am studying to become a doctor.
I know that my gear is somewhat below par, but I feel that gear is not nearly as important as knowing how to play a class and how to play it well. Below I have tried to justify why I would be a great asset to the guild:
1) I have been playing rogue since Naxx 40 and know the class inside and out.
2) I feel that I am intelligent and competent and can perform to the highest of standards during raids
3) I just reactivated my account not too long ago after about 7 months away from WoW. Hopefully it is evident that I am making a conscious effort to gear myself up as quickly as possible and become more of an asset to the guild.
Thank you for reviewing my application,

Can you handle criticism?: Of course, so long as it is constructive criticism.

2pc t8, 2pc t7.
Not enchanted/incorrectly enchanted: chest, weapons, shoes

Your choice of mace/fist is odd to me, explain (lack of weapon luck, choice, or are you just a theorycrafting genius and you know something we don't.) Also following that: why you chose to put 5/5 in mace spec and 1/5 in CQC when (last I heard from the combat grapevine) only the specified weapon gains those specials (i.e. your MH only gains the arp from mace spec and your offhand only gains 1% crit.)
Your gem choice is even odder to me, ag, haste, ap, crit, 20 ap gem?

I'm sure ed will give some more insight on combaty things.

Well you put some good effort into the app itself, but your gear, gems, and lack of enchants on some of it just won't cut it. Sorry

ya you seem to base your spec off ArP and then claim that you gem +20agi. while most of your gems are either AP or agi/haste. Like ash said horrible weapon enchants for someone apping to a top end guild. And at this point i wouldn't apply to any raiding guild without having ALL epic gems in my gear.

if you want a good spec and gear selection look up abbeyroad. hes been combat since 1932.

With regards to my gear: as far as my weapons are concerned, like I said, I've only reactivated my account a week ago, and I have not had the luxury of running these raiding instances due to instance locks and resets. I do agree that 5/5 fists/daggers would be a more ideal spec for combat (MH fist/OH dagger bc all the OH maces seem to suck in comparison), but at this time I have been unlucky with drops and rolls.

With regards to my enchants: I have "thotbotted" all the mats that I would require to get enchants, such as +10 stats to chest, berserking, and agi to boots. I have them all available in my bank at this time. However, I hope that it makes sense that I do not have a lot of gold/etc that I am hoping to get lucky with drops to obtain gear worthy of applying these enchants to.

I have been doing dailies constantly now in hopes of obtaining epic quality gems. Again, please do take into consideration the short amount of time I have had to play after reactivating my account. This has severely hindered my ability to obtain desireable gear up to par with the high standards of TG and the gold to purchase gems as well as enchants.

I hope by the end of the week (probably friday), things will look different. Thank you.

to save yourself the grief i would have probably waited until you gear was top quality before apping. Reapps are looked at seriously but at least you got some good input as to where you can improve.

Indeed I do appreciate all the feedback I have received. But, I get the feeling from the last post that you may be looking more at my gear than my ability to play my class. I do hope that is not the case at all. Nonetheless, I am working to the best of my ability to gear up as quickly as possible. Thanks for all the input.

well seeing that you didnt link a WMO report we have no way of seeing if you are the player that we would expect to see. Anyone can copy paste a rotation from the EJ thinktank and appear to know what they are doing.

Well, you don t reactivate your account and app to the best guild on server without making sure you are ready for it.

good luck anyway!

I will link a WWS report in the 10m ulduar raid I am attending tonight, so that you and other members may evaluate my dps cycle and how I play different encounters and such. Is WWS the same as WMO? I have never used WMO, but I will look into it at the end of this post.

As far as re-evaluating my gems and enchants, I have recently made some upgrades to my initial gear after farming for gold and having the luxury to buy gems and enchanting mats. (i.e. new shoulders, +10 stats to chest, 2x +20 armor pen gem, +10 agi/crit gem, boot enchant, wrist enchant) Unfortunately, I was unable to obtain new weapons in this weeks 10m ToC, but hopefully 25m ToC will yield better results.

With regards to Flessless' post, I would like to reply by saying that although I may not be ready "gear-wise", I feel that I am ready as a competent player. And, the efforts that I have made to make my char more marketable shows in the effort that I have put in in such a short period of time.

Anyway, I hope to receive additional feedback/suggestions from this thread in hopes of receiving consideration for recruitment in the near future.

Well here is a WWS report. I do not really comprehend the information posted here, but it was requested so here it is:

Your SnD uptime looks low.

Few things just from a glace:
you're not using a secondary finisher (evis).

You're opening with garrote: the damage/per energy comparatively with using a garrote versus just opening with a Sinister really makes stealthing at all very useless as combat. It's mostly better to start your swings and open with the SS than stealth and garrote. You get minimal things from it (unlike the argument from a Mut perspective.)

Hi! thanks for the response with regards to the WWS. WIth regards to the SnD uptime, I prioritize Rupture to SnD, which may be flawed. However, I utilize my Gloves Tinker to grant me 340 haste for 12sec when my SnD cycle is messed up (when I do not gain an extra combat point from my SS glyph).

The garrote opener argument made by ahdiosmio seems legit to me, and I will remove it from my opening cycle! thanks.

And just a question I have atm; should i prioritize 4/5 Terrorblade Armor for the Rupture crits? Or is the Garona's Conquest set a better alternative? I'm leaning towards the former.

t8 4pc is amazing, I won't be dropping it MAYBE for ilvl258 tier pieces. Get it above all other pieces.
