I just saw a show on Discovery where the Navy and Air Force were testing to see what it would take to sink a decommissioned destroyer. A weapon called the Mark 48 Torpedo was shown and it was amazingly bad ass.

First it explodes under a ship causing a shock wave that literally cracks the whole ship in half. Then the pressure void under the ship causes it to sink down near the impact, which turns the crack into a complete split. Then a delayed charge goes off and blows strait up through the ship. The result is any ship is gone in 1 shot.

It's unfortunate that military power doesn't equate to people who have nothing to lose.

The Niggers (I don't normally say the n word, but here I'll spell it with a capital N) got lucky and found a ship carrying weapons so they demanded more money. The sad part is that this happens all the time, but pirates typically target the ships because they are bringing foreign aid into their countries. They either hijack the ship and demand money for the privilege of sending aid to their countrymen, or straight up loot the ship. They get away with it and will continue to get away with it. Why? because everyone knows we won't be shooting at hostages and it would probably cost more then the ransom to mobilize some elite team to save the hostages and kill the hijackers- both in monetary terms and political influence. And it's not like we can just say yea okay, we'll give you money and let you go- then arrest them once the hostages are gone. The next round of hijackers will get more desperate and demand more. You can't beat people at a game of chess if they are playing tictactoe. Another reason why the US is so vigilant about spreading democracy.

tl;dr: pirates hijack ship with 33 russian tanks, are surrounded by 3 US warships within hours and russian warships on the way and they still have the balls to demand money.
